Studsvik taps GE Vernova Hitachi, Samsung C&T to advance 1.2 GW Sweden SMR project
GEV•Studsvik names development partners for Sweden SMR project
Studsvik picked GE Vernova Hitachi and Samsung C&T for exclusive development of a four-unit BWRX-300 SMR project in Sweden.
Planned capacity is about 1.2 GW, with the first unit targeted to start operating in the mid-2030s.
The project site will be chosen during development work between Studsvik’s licensed Nyköping site or the Målma site in Valdemarsvik.
GE Vernova’s Financial Services unit joins DS Investment Partners on financing work; the agreement is not a final investment decision.
Studsvik will lead permitting, with GE Vernova Hitachi leading reactor engineering and licensing support, and Samsung C&T supporting EPC execution.
