1. SunPower Signs LOI to Acquire Cobalt Power Systems

SunPower Inc. has entered into a non-binding letter of intent to acquire Cobalt Power Systems, a Mountain View, California–based solar installer with $35 million in annual revenue and 96 employees. The all-equity transaction will position Cobalt as a standalone subsidiary, leveraging SunPower’s 1,800-strong sales force and streamlined corporate functions while preserving Cobalt’s focus on premium residential and commercial installations. Cobalt’s 23-year operating history includes landmark projects such as a 1.4-megawatt installation at Santa Clara University and the Fortinet building deployment, which features the new SunPower Monolith panel. SunPower’s CEO highlighted that the acquisition process, which encompasses 300–500 integration tasks and has been applied in 28 prior deals, is currently 85% complete on its Sunder acquisition and 40% complete on Ambia, underscoring the company’s capacity to manage Cobalt as an autonomous unit with stock-option incentives for its workforce.
