Sunrun gains on agreement with Voltus to support AI hyperscaler power demand
RUN•Sunrun shares rise after Voltus agreement
Shares of solar company Sunrun RUN.O were up 2.6% at $10.45 in premarket trading.
The company said it will provide energy capacity from a portion of its residential solar-plus-storage systems in the PJM and MISO power markets under an agreement with Voltus.
Program aims to support data-center and grid needs
Sunrun said Voltus's Bring Your Own Capacity (BYOC) program enables large power users such as AI hyperscalers to bring firm and flexible capacity to support data-center interconnection and grid operations.
The company said home batteries and other distributed energy resources reduce electricity demand when grid operators need additional capacity.
Sunrun said the partnership follows a separate Sunrun, Renew Home and Tesla effort to unlock 16.8 GW of flexible capacity from distributed energy resources.
Up to the last close, RUN was down 44.6% year to date.
