Suzano Links 214,368 Hectares via Ecological Corridors, Eyes 500,000-Hectare 2030 Goal
Suzano has connected 214,368 hectares of native forest through ecological corridors in the Atlantic Forest, Cerrado and Amazon biomes over four years, including 55,366 hectares in 2025. The program, under its Nature Strategy, aims for 500,000 hectares by 2030 and employs STAR methodology to aid 19 priority endangered species.
1. Corridor Expansion Progress
Over the past four years, Suzano has established ecological corridors connecting 214,368 hectares of native forest across Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, Cerrado and Amazon biomes. In 2025 alone, the company linked an additional 55,366 hectares, advancing toward its 500,000-hectare target by 2030.
2. Collaborative Implementation Model
The initiative operates through partnerships with local communities, rural landowners, civil society organizations and external funders, including a joint venture with iNovaland. Notably, Suzano created the 5,800-hectare RPPN Nova Descoberta reserve, the largest private conservation unit in Maranhão, enhancing the Gurupi Mosaic in the Eastern Amazon.
3. Conservation Impact and Future Goals
Guided by the STAR methodology, monitoring of the corridors has recorded 97 endangered species with focused action on 19, including the hook-billed hermit and giant armadillo. These efforts form part of Suzano’s Nature Strategy, positioning the company to meet its sustainability commitments and bolster biodiversity resilience by 2030.
