Symbotic Lands $22.3B Backlog and 114,000 Sqft AWG Automation Deal
Symbotic reached a strategic agreement with AWG to automate a 114,000-square-foot facility in Pearl River, Louisiana, expecting to process 19 million cases annually by Q4 2027 and enhance operational efficiency. The company also holds a $22.3 billion backlog across 57 deployed systems, supported by its Walmart tie-up and Fox Robotics.
1. AWG Automation Agreement
Symbotic has entered a strategic agreement with Associated Wholesale Grocers to deploy its high-density, AI-enabled automation system across 114,000 square feet of the Gulf Coast Division Support Center in Pearl River, Louisiana. Construction and facility modifications begin in early 2027, with system installation, testing, and integration scheduled thereafter and commercial operations targeted for Q4 2027.
2. Order Backlog and Deployment
As of Q1 2026, Symbotic carries a $22.3 billion order backlog and has deployed 57 automation systems across key customers. This backlog underscores robust demand for its end-to-end robotic platform and provides high revenue visibility through multi-year installation and service contracts.
3. Strategic Growth Initiatives
Symbotic’s growth is further bolstered by an expanded partnership with Walmart, the $Fox Robotics integration to enhance software and services capabilities, and a next-generation product rollout. These initiatives are expected to drive margin expansion, recurring software revenues, and deeper penetration into large-scale distribution networks.
