T-Mobile US added 2.4 million net customers, reaching nearly 140 million subscribers, while its standalone 5G broadband business remains nascent but leverages Sprint-acquired spectrum. In J.D. Power’s 2026 study, customers rated it highest for network quality in five of six U.S. regions, and Ookla crowned it top U.S. mobile network in 2H 2025.

1. Resurgence in Customer Growth and Valuation Adjustment

In the latest quarter, T-Mobile US added 2.4 million net customers, bringing its total subscriber base to nearly 140 million and sustaining double-digit year-over-year growth. This performance follows a period in which the stock underperformed the broader market by roughly 25% in 2025, a correction driven by previous overvaluation concerns. With the share price now reflecting more conservative expectations, investors are revisiting T-Mobile’s fundamentals, particularly its sustained customer acquisition momentum and improving free cash flow margins, which analysts forecast will expand by 150 basis points over the next two years.

2. Strengthened Spectrum Position and 5G Broadband Potential

T-Mobile’s acquisition of Sprint has fortified its spectrum portfolio, giving the company access to mid-band frequencies that industry data show deliver optimal trade-offs between coverage and capacity. While the 5G home broadband business remains a small contributor—representing under 5% of total service revenue—management projects that segment can contribute up to $2 billion in annualized revenue within three years. Capex guidance of $8 billion to $9 billion for 2026 reflects continued network densification and fibre backhaul investments, positioning T-Mobile to monetize its enhanced spectrum footprint through both wireless and fixed broadband offerings.

3. Industry-Leading Network Quality Recognition

Independent customer surveys have crowned T-Mobile as the network quality leader in five of six U.S. regions according to the J.D. Power 2026 Wireless Network Quality Study, up from two regions at its previous peak. In parallel, Opensignal’s analysis of billions of real-world user data points awarded T-Mobile victories in 12 of 16 performance categories, including 5G availability and video experience. Ookla Speedtest® data for the second half of 2025 further validates these findings, naming T-Mobile the fastest mobile network in the nation. These accolades support management’s thesis that continued investment in standalone 5G and a cloud-native, AI-ready core will drive lower churn and higher average revenue per user over time.
