Tango Therapeutics Adds Oncology Veteran Robert Azelby to Board to Advance Vopimetostat's Late-Stage Development
TNGX•Tango Therapeutics appointed Robert Azelby, a biopharmaceutical leader with over 30 years of oncology commercialization and corporate strategy experience, to its Board of Directors. His expertise aims to support advancement of vopimetostat, its investigational PRMT5 inhibitor targeting MTAP-deleted cancers, toward potential late-stage development for pancreatic cancer.
1. Board Appointment Details
On June 22, Tango Therapeutics announced the addition of Robert Azelby to its Board of Directors. Azelby brings over three decades of leadership across oncology commercialization and corporate governance, having served as CEO of Eliem Therapeutics and Alder BioPharmaceuticals, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at Juno Therapeutics, and VP and General Manager of Oncology at Amgen.
2. Vopimetostat Late-Stage Advancement
Tango is advancing vopimetostat, an oral PRMT5 inhibitor designed for cancers with MTAP deletion, toward potential late-stage development. MTAP deletions occur in 10–15% of all cancers, including approximately 40% of pancreatic cases, and Azelby's commercialization experience is expected to support the drug's regulatory, approval and market launch efforts.
