1. Freight rates surge
Tanker freight rates climbed from about $60,000 a day to nearly $1 million as Iran and Houthi attacks disrupted key shipping routes. Ship location transmissions around the Gulf dropped 83%, according to maritime market analysis by Windward CEO Ami Daniel.
2. Energy supply disruptions
Daniel estimated that roughly 90 million more barrels left the Gulf over 12 days than public figures showed. Qatar's LNG exports from Ras Laffan halted, while Western sanctions left Russian tankers uninsured.
