Target appoints Jeff England as supply chain chief under $6B efficiency overhaul
Target appointed Jeff England, ex-QXO and Walmart supply chain chief, as chief supply chain officer starting late May, with Gretchen McCarthy shifting to strategic advisor through August. He reports to COO Lisa Roath and leads a $6 billion overhaul to boost inventory, in-stock rates and same-day delivery across 2,000 stores.
1. Appointment of Jeff England
Target named Jeff England as its chief supply chain officer effective late May, replacing Gretchen McCarthy who will transition to a strategic advisor role through August. England joins from QXO where he served as chief supply chain officer and previously spent 18 years at Walmart.
2. Role in Turnaround Strategy
Reporting to COO Lisa Roath, England will spearhead execution of a $6 billion supply chain overhaul aimed at improving inventory management, boosting in-stock rates and scaling same-day delivery across approximately 2,000 U.S. stores. This aligns with CEO Michael Fiddelke’s push for efficiency and sales growth.
3. Supply Chain Infrastructure Investments
Target recently opened an upstream receive center in Houston to optimize vendor inventory flow and prevent store overstocking, while also investing in store employees and reducing corporate roles. These initiatives support the broader effort to streamline operations and enhance customer experience.
