Target plans to invest $5 billion into a major store transformation, encompassing upgrades at more than 130 locations and the launch of 30 new units across key U.S. markets this year.

2. Priority Expansion Markets

New stores are slated for metropolitan areas including Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., reflecting Target’s focus on high-growth urban and suburban regions.

3. Store Redesign Features

The remodeling will introduce expanded dry grocery aisles, larger fresh and frozen food sections at select locations, contemporary décor with specialty LED lighting, revamped order pickup, drive-up and returns areas, plus updated traditional and self-checkout lanes to simplify navigation.

4. Sustainability and Operational Enhancements

Certain stores will pilot natural refrigeration systems, more efficient lighting and HVAC units to reduce emissions, while upgraded guest amenities such as restrooms, nursing spaces and enhanced fulfillment zones aim to strengthen store-based order processing and service.
