Target Recalls Up & Up Baby Wipes Over Burkholderia Contamination
TGT•Target is recalling Up & Up Fragrance Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented baby wipes after tests found Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli. The recall covers Fragrance Free packs from 20- to 1200-count and Cucumber Scented packs from 72- to 800-count, with full refunds available on affected UPC-coded items.
1. Recall Scope
Target is voluntarily recalling Up & Up Fragrance Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented baby wipes sold nationwide, covering 20-, 72-, 216-, 800- and 1200-count Fragrance Free packs and 72-, 216- and 800-count Cucumber Scented packs bearing specified UPC and manufacturing codes.
2. Contamination Details
Testing detected Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli in product samples, bacteria that can cause serious infections, including bloodstream infections and pneumonia, especially in newborns, infants and immunocompromised individuals.
3. Consumer Response
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled wipes and return affected UPC-coded products to any Target store for a full refund; Target Guest Relations is available at 1-800-440-0680 daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT.
4. Investigation Status
Target and supplier Sapro Temizlik Urunleri have received complaints of discoloration, skin and eye irritation and are investigating adverse event reports while coordinating with regulatory authorities.
