Teledyne Marine, M Subs Sign MOU to Deploy 1,275 Gliders, AUVs for Royal Navy

Teledyne Marine and UK-based M Subs signed an MOU to co-develop unmanned vehicles, autonomy systems and sensors for UK Royal Navy programs including Atlantic Bastion and MHC Block 2. The deal builds on SeaBat sonar integration on Zero USV at REPMUS 2025 and plans Q1/Q2 2026 glider and AUV demonstrations.

1. Collaboration Overview

Teledyne Marine and M Subs executed a memorandum of understanding to jointly pursue maritime unmanned systems opportunities. The agreement covers integration of vehicle platforms, autonomy systems, sonars, acoustic communications, cameras, lighting and subsea connectors for defense and commercial applications.

2. Technology Integration and Demonstrations

The partnership builds on successful SeaBat multibeam sonar integration on Zero USV platforms demonstrated at REPMUS 2025. Teams have commenced work to deploy Slocum gliders and Osprey class AUVs, with UK and Iceland demonstrations planned in Q1 and Q2 2026.

3. Targeted Naval Programs

Efforts will focus on UK Royal Navy initiatives including Atlantic Bastion and MHC Block 2. Joint business development aims to leverage both companies’ UK presence and global networks to secure additional opportunities in international naval markets.

4. Production Capacity and Track Record

Teledyne Marine has delivered over 12,000 APEX floats, approximately 1,275 Slocum gliders and Gavia AUVs to 18 navies from facilities in Massachusetts and Iceland. The company employs 2,700 staff across 18 UK sites to support current and future defense priorities.
