Telefónica Deutschland expands Oktoberfest mobile network with 21 temporary sites

Telefónica Deutschland expanded mobile capacity for Munich’s Oktoberfest with a temporary network buildout across the Theresienwiese festival area.

The deployment includes 21 additional mobile sites with 51 network elements to handle peak demand comparable to a small city.

Upgrades include a technology refresh to the latest system generation to raise network performance and efficiency.

Coverage was extended with additional 5G-enabled streetlights to support service on key arrival and departure routes.

Data usage at the festival reached 230,000 gigabytes in the most recent Oktoberfest, underscoring capacity requirements.
