Telefónica launches 2026-2030 global sustainability plan, targets net-zero emissions by 2040

Telefónica set out a 2026-2030 global sustainability plan, embedding ESG targets into business management to drive growth, efficiency, risk control and investment access.

Climate goals include a 90% cut in Scope 1-2 emissions by 2030, a 56% cut in Scope 3, and net-zero across the value chain by 2040.

The waste target calls for zero waste by 2030, using equipment reuse, refurbishment, longer asset life and tighter use of critical materials.

The plan also tightens ESG governance, supply-chain oversight, privacy, security and AI governance to support its positioning as a trusted digital infrastructure provider.
