Tema Space Innovators ETF Grabs 10% SpaceX Exposure, Tops Rivals in Assets
NASA•Tema Space Innovators ETF has overtaken Procure Space, ARK Space & Defense Innovation and SPDR Kensho Final Frontiers ETFs in assets just two months after its March debut. It holds about 10% of its portfolio in a special‐purpose vehicle granting pre-IPO SpaceX exposure, driving top 1% inflows alongside RONB and XOVR.
1. Accelerated Asset Accumulation
Since its March launch the ETF has climbed past Procure Space ETF (UFO), ARK Space & Defense Innovation ETF (ARKX) and SPDR S&P Kensho Final Frontiers ETF (ROKT) in total assets, reflecting investor demand for pre-IPO space ventures.
2. SpaceX SPV Allocation
The fund allocates roughly 10% of its portfolio to a special-purpose vehicle holding private SpaceX shares, offering a direct path to pre-IPO exposure not available in traditional space ETFs.
3. Competitive ETF Landscape
Other ETFs like the Baron First Principles ETF and ERShares Private-Public Crossover ETF also saw top 1% inflows last week, with the Baron fund jumping from $400 million to $1.2 billion in just two weeks.
4. Future Market Impact
This heightened capital flow suggests SpaceX is functioning as a quasi-public investment vehicle ahead of its IPO, potentially driving increased concentration in space and AI infrastructure sectors when it finally lists.
