Tennessee American Water will invest over $40 million in 2026 to modernize aging water infrastructure across its Tennessee service areas. The plan focuses on enhancing reliability and resiliency through targeted upgrades to electrical, storage and distribution systems.
2. Major Project Highlights
Key projects include switchgear and motor control center replacements at the Citico Water Treatment Plant, construction of a 750,000-gallon composite elevated tank in Lookout Valley and replacement of 2,960 feet of water mains on Fisher and Adair avenues. Whitwell service area will see two new storage tanks totaling 785,000 gallons by summer.

These upgrades are designed to strengthen redundancy during power disruptions, support fire protection with additional hydrants, and maintain consistent service during peak demand. The program will benefit approximately 425,000 customers by improving system performance and protecting public health.
