Tesla Begins Cybercab Robotaxi Production with Five-City U.S. Expansion
Tesla has begun manufacturing its two-door, two-seat Cybercab robotaxi off the Giga Texas line, fulfilling a long-promised launch. The company plans Robotaxi service expansion to Phoenix, Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Las Vegas in H1 and doesn’t expect material revenue until at least 2027.
1. Production Launch
Elon Musk announced that Tesla’s Cybercab robotaxi has entered volume manufacturing at Giga Texas, marking the first off-line vehicles designed specifically for autonomous ride-hailing without steering wheels or pedals.
2. Cybercab Specifications
The two-door, two-seat sedan was unveiled two years ago and will require regulatory exemptions for mass production. Musk has stated it will be priced below other Tesla models, though the exact cost remains undisclosed.
3. Network Expansion
Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet, which began invitation-only service in Austin and recently debuted in Dallas and Houston, is slated to launch in Phoenix, Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Las Vegas during the first half of this year.
4. Revenue Outlook
Fleet size and safety-monitor details remain undisclosed, and Musk cautioned that material revenue from the Cybercab won’t arrive before 2027. Tesla’s shares are down 17% so far this year as investors weigh the slow ramp-up.
