Tesla Eyes December AI6 Chip Completion as FSD Probe Expands and Shares Drop 3%

TSLATSLA

Tesla plans to tape out its AI6 processor by December, with Samsung producing chips on 2-nm nodes for H2 2027 autonomous driving deployment. A 3% stock decline followed the NHTSA’s expanded FSD probe covering 3.2M vehicles after nine crashes, while Stellantis EVs gain Supercharger access via adapters.

1. AI6 Chip Tape-Out Timeline

Tesla aims to finalize its AI6 microprocessor design by December, targeting a year-end tape-out milestone. Samsung is contracted to produce the chips on its 2-nanometer process, with mass production slated for H2 2027 to support autonomous driving and robotics applications.

2. Stellantis Supercharger Integration

Stellantis EV models including the Dodge Charger Daytona, Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Recon, Ram ProMaster EV, Fiat 500e and Maserati lineups can now access Tesla’s V3 and V4 Superchargers using a Free2move adapter sold through dealerships. The 2027 Dodge Charger Daytona will feature a built-in NACS port, eliminating the need for an adapter.

3. Expanded NHTSA FSD Investigation

The NHTSA upgraded its Full Self-Driving system review to a comprehensive engineering analysis, covering 3.2 million Tesla vehicles after nine reported crashes and one fatality. The probe raised concerns over FSD’s camera performance in low-visibility conditions, contributing to a 3% drop in Tesla shares.
