Tesla September registrations rise across Europe, extending recovery
TSLA•Tesla registrations rose year over year in several European markets in September, including 61.9% in France, 38.4% in Sweden and 24.8% in Spain. Across the EU, Britain and the European Free Trade Association, registrations rose 43.3% from January through August.
1. September gains across markets
Tesla registrations, a proxy for sales, also rose 2.2% in Norway and 2.9% in Denmark in September. An analyst said battery-electric vehicle markets in both countries are beginning to slow because of high saturation.
2. Broader European recovery
Tesla registrations across the EU, Britain and the European Free Trade Association increased 43.3% from January through August, compared with 38.8% growth in the broader battery-electric vehicle market. The article said easier year-ago comparisons, higher fuel prices, government incentives and growing consumer interest in electric vehicles supported the rebound.
3. Competition and upcoming data
An analyst said Tesla's growth will likely slow to align more closely with the total market in 2027 as competition intensifies. Tesla continues to rely heavily on the Model 3 and Model Y, while consumers have more competitively priced options from Chinese rivals and European automakers. Registration figures from Britain and Germany were due later that week.
