Tetra Unveils Neptune Z-Lite Fluid, Secures Three-Well 20k psi Deepwater Contract
TTI•TETRA Technologies has launched TETRA Neptune Z-Lite, a high-density completion fluid offering up to 60% lower zinc-ion concentration and densities up to 17.5 ppg for deepwater high-pressure wells. The company secured a three-well, 20,000 psi project for Beacon Offshore Energy’s Gulf of America Shenandoah and Monument programs, starting in 2026.
1. Product Introduction
TETRA Neptune Z-Lite is a solids-free, thermally stable completion fluid engineered with patented Neptune chemistry that reduces zinc-ion concentration by up to 60% compared with conventional zinc-based systems. It delivers densities up to 17.5 ppg while maintaining performance, compatibility with elastomers and formation fluids, and lower corrosion potential.
2. Deepwater Project Award
Tetra has been awarded a three-well, 20,000 psi deepwater completion program for Beacon Offshore Energy’s Shenandoah and Monument projects in the Gulf of America. Operations are expected to begin in 2026, marking a strategic entry into high-pressure offshore completions.
3. Operational and Environmental Benefits
By lowering zinc returns from the wellbore, Neptune Z-Lite minimizes refinery exposure and handling requirements across wellsite and production facilities. The fluid can be recycled on standard field equipment and is designed to reduce life-cycle well costs in high-temperature, high-pressure reservoirs.
4. Strategic Positioning
The introduction of Neptune Z-Lite expands Tetra’s completion fluids portfolio and reinforces its position in the growing global deepwater market. The technology underscores the company’s focus on differentiated fluid chemistry solutions and supports its broader growth strategy in deepwater offshore services.
