TEL AVIV, July 29 (Reuters) - Israeli drugmaker Teva Pharmaceutical Industries TEVA.TA is looking for U.S. government guidance on the Trump administration's plan to impose tariffs on generic drugs being brought into the United States in the next two years, CEO Richard Francis said on Wednesday.
"We've got to seek to understand what is the U.S. administration is trying to do," Francis told Reuters after issuing second-quarter financial results, noting Teva is a major player in the U.S. healthcare ecosystem.
"So we have a good seat at the table...Let's let's see how this plays out."
Francis says Emalex acquisition should become accretive later
Francis also said that he expects the acquisition of Emalex Biosciences in June for more than $700 million to be accretive "very fast" but likely not until 2028 after the launch of its Tourette syndrome drug in 2027.
