Teva said it received FDA approval for Weltruza, a once-monthly injection for adults with schizophrenia. Teva leads the drug’s development and commercialization and expects to launch it in the United States in the coming weeks.
2. Partnership and payments
Weltruza is the second US-approved product from Teva’s partnership with Medincell, following Uzedy, a long-acting injectable form of risperidone approved in 2023. The drug uses Medincell’s long-acting injectable technology and contains olanzapine. Medincell may be eligible for up to $112 million in additional development and commercial milestone payments, as well as royalties on sales.
