Textron Aviation flew the Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen3 prototype for the first time, moving the next-generation light jet closer to FAA certification.
The initial flight lasted nearly two hours from Wichita. During the flight, the crew performed cockpit software checks, and the aircraft reached 41,000 feet and 278 knots indicated.
Next-generation Citation light jet fleet moves into testing
The milestone puts all three next-generation Citation light jets into flight testing: CJ4 Gen3, CJ3 Gen3 and M2 Gen3.
The CJ3 Gen3 adds Garmin Emergency Autoland on the Garmin G3000 avionics platform, targeting broader appeal to owner-operators.
