Three bodies recovered in Gabon following sinking of Borr Drilling rig
BORR•Three bodies were recovered Wednesday after Borr Drilling’s Prospector 5 rig sank off Gabon on Saturday. Two people remained missing, after Borr said 110 of 115 people aboard were safe.
1. Search continues
The rig sank off the southern town of Mayumba. It was owned and operated by Borr Drilling and contracted to support BW Energy’s drilling operations off Gabon; it had not yet begun drilling.
2. Two people missing
Gabonese Navy Chief of Staff Charles Hubert Bekale-Meyong said underwater inspections using remotely operated robots found three bodies, but the images did not allow their identification. Search teams were continuing to look for two missing people. Sources familiar with the matter said an Indian national was found dead on Sunday; the other four initially unaccounted for included three Gabonese nationals and one other expatriate.
