VLO•East Texas refineries keep operating during Tropical Storm Edouard
HOUSTON, Sept. 1 (Reuters) - Three major refineries in East Texas maintained electrical supply and continued operating on Tuesday as Tropical Storm Edouard passed close by, said people familiar with operations at the refineries.
At least 8,000 customers lost electrical power shortly after Edouard came ashore just east of Port Arthur, Texas, where the Valero VLO.N and Motiva refineries are located, according to an Entergy website. Both plants were operating as planned with full power, sources at the refineries said.
Exxon's refinery in nearby Beaumont was also maintaining planned production with full internal and external electrical power, sources at that plant said.
