USO•Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said three tankers carrying Russian diesel are headed for North America. Russian companies could supply 500,000 metric tonnes in October, compared with 300,000 tonnes in the deal announced by President Donald Trump.
Novak said the first three fuel tankers were heading for the eastern coast of the Atlantic Ocean, with support from the Russian Direct Investment Fund. He said the cargoes were part of a deal to supply U.S. and world markets.
Trump announced this month that Russia would supply diesel to global markets, and the administration temporarily lifted U.S. sanctions on Russian fuel. The deal provided for 300,000 metric tonnes in October and more later; Novak said Russian companies could supply 500,000 metric tonnes that month.
