Tilray Shares Slip After Rescheduling Hopes as New Functional RTDs Debut
Tilray's 10 Barrel Brewing unit launched Clean Slate, a non-alcoholic RTD cocktail with 113 mg caffeine and functional enhancers, plus Salty Sips, a 5% ABV vodka refresher with two grams of sugar rolling out across the West Coast. Shares retreated after a brief surge on Schedule III rescheduling hopes.
1. Launch of Functional and Low-Sugar RTDs
10 Barrel Brewing, a craft beer brand under Tilray, introduced Clean Slate—a non-alcoholic functional RTD with 113 mg caffeine, a vitamin B blend, lion’s mane, guarana, ginseng and Oregon Coast sea salt—and Salty Sips, a 5% ABV vodka-based refresher with two grams of sugar and real watermelon juice. Both products will debut across the Pacific Northwest before expanding throughout the West Coast to tap growing demand for better-for-you and functional ready-to-drink cocktails.
2. Schedule III Rescheduling Impact and Stock Reaction
Shares of Tilray briefly jumped on speculation that marijuana would be rescheduled from Schedule I to Schedule III, which would ease certain tax burdens, but then retraced gains as full federal legalization remains necessary for market access. The company still faces ongoing operating losses and underperforming cannabis-infused beverage segments, tempering investor enthusiasm.
