TJ Maxx parent TJX falls after forecasting Q3 profit below estimates

The company reaffirmed its annual comparable sales forecast of 3% to 4% growth.
TJX said it sees fiscal 2027 profit between $5.31 and $5.36 per share, compared with its prior target of $5.08 to $5.15 per share.
For the second quarter, TJX reported sales of $15.18 billion, narrowly beating expectations of $15.16 billion, and adjusted EPS of $1.22 versus estimates of $1.19.
Up to the last close, the stock was down about 2% year to date.
TJX shares fall after weaker Q3 outlook
Shares of off-price retailer TJX Cos fell as much as 5.9% to $141.94, their lowest since November 2025, after the company forecast third-quarter profit below estimates as consumers rein in discretionary spending amid macroeconomic uncertainty.
TJX expects third-quarter adjusted EPS of $1.30 to $1.32, excluding a 6 cent benefit from tariff refunds, below analysts' estimates of $1.35, according to data compiled by LSEG.
