TOMI Expands EU Approval for BIT Disinfectant into Austria and Italy
TOMZ•TOMI secured regulatory approval for its BIT disinfectant in Austria and Italy, expanding its EU authorized footprint to nine member states. The EU’s BPR mutual recognition process will accelerate rollouts and enable future approvals in France, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Spain.
1. Regulatory Approvals in Austria and Italy
TOMI Environmental Solutions obtained official authorization for its Binary Ionization Technology (BIT) as a PT2 disinfectant in Austria and Italy, raising the number of EU member states where the product is approved to nine. This follows its March approval in the Netherlands and extends the company’s reach into key European markets.
2. EU BPR Mutual Recognition Benefits
Under the European Union’s Biocidal Products Regulation, an approval in one member state facilitates streamlined recognition across others. TOMI will leverage this framework to avoid redundant testing and reduce time-to-market for its disinfection technology across additional EU countries.
3. Future Expansion Plans
TOMI anticipates mutual recognition approvals in France, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Spain, unlocking access to new customer segments. Accelerated regulatory clearances are expected to support commercial rollout in hospitals, processing facilities, and other high-demand environments.
