Tootsie Roll's Q3 EPS falls, hurt by Halloween sales timing and higher costs
TR•Tootsie Roll's third-quarter net sales fell 1% year over year, and EPS declined 35% to $0.31. The company cited Halloween sales shifting to the fourth quarter and higher costs.
1. Quarterly results
Tootsie Roll said third-quarter results were hurt by Halloween sales shifting to the fourth quarter compared with the prior year. Higher trade promotions reduced reported net sales, while increased ingredient, packaging, labor and energy costs hurt margins.
2. Cost outlook
Freight and delivery costs are expected to remain elevated through the fourth quarter of 2026 and into 2027. The company plans to maintain higher advertising and trade promotion spending in 2026.
