TotalEnergies spending more on US renewables as others exit, says CEO
TTE•TotalEnergies is spending slightly more than planned in the US and taking on renewable energy projects as other developers seek to exit, CEO Patrick Pouyanne said.
1. Taking on projects
TotalEnergies is taking on additional US wind projects as developers accelerate work to qualify for tax credits before their phase-out, Pouyanne said. He called the US market “promising” and said developer concerns about a possible market collapse around 2028 or 2030 create opportunities to acquire projects in development and handle construction. The company is spending slightly more in the US than originally planned because its projects there are larger than those in Europe.
