TotalEnergies takes FID on Absheron full-field development in Azerbaijan, targets 6 BCMA gas output
TTE•TotalEnergies, SOCAR and XRG took a final investment decision on the Absheron full-field development in Azerbaijan. The project targets 6 BCMA of gas and 47,000 barrels per day of condensate, with start-up targeted for 2029.
1. Development targets
TotalEnergies took a final investment decision with SOCAR and XRG on the Absheron full-field development in Azerbaijan’s Caspian Sea. TotalEnergies holds a 35% stake and operates the project, which is designed to lift production to 6 BCMA of gas and 47,000 barrels per day of condensate, with start-up targeted for 2029.
2. Gas and emissions
Gas is slated for Azerbaijan’s domestic market and exports to Turkey through existing links into the European gas market. The field holds about 140 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas; its first phase started in 2023 at 1.5 BCMA. The development is designed for scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity below 4 kg CO2e/boe.
