Toyota to build Poland recycling plant for steel and aluminum recovery

TMTM

Toyota will build a circular vehicle recycling facility in Lower Silesia, Poland, to process end-of-life vehicles and recover steel, aluminum and plastics. The plant will feed reclaimed materials back into Toyota’s European production network to reduce reliance on new raw materials and support sustainability targets.

1. Project Overview

Toyota Motor Europe has announced plans to construct a circular vehicle recycling facility in Lower Silesia, Poland. The site will dismantle and shred end-of-life vehicles to extract steel, aluminum and plastic components.

2. Facility Capabilities

The new plant will incorporate advanced sorting and shredding technologies to separate and purify recovered materials. Reclaimed metals and polymers will be supplied directly to Toyota’s European manufacturing operations.

3. Strategic Rationale

This investment aligns with Toyota’s goal to reduce raw material purchases and meet stricter EU sustainability regulations. By integrating recycled materials into its production network, Toyota aims to lower material costs and improve its environmental footprint.
