Toyota will import Taiwan-made Noah and Voxy minivans from October to relieve domestic capacity capped at 14,000 vehicles per day, with the Taiwan JV targeting 100,000 annual units after producing 120,000 Corollas and Yaris Cross last fiscal year. Inchcape’s £240 million Silver Star acquisition will expand Toyota and Lexus distribution in Bulgaria’s 50,000-unit light vehicle market.

1. Taiwan JV to Supply Noah and Voxy

Toyota will import Noah and Voxy minivans from its Taiwan joint venture starting October to address domestic capacity of 14,000 vehicles per day. The Taiwan facility produced 120,000 Corollas and Yaris Cross vehicles in the fiscal year ended March 2026 and will target 100,000 annual Noah and Voxy units, involving tens of billions of yen in investment.

2. Currency Headwinds Raise Costs

The yen’s weakest level against the New Taiwan dollar since August 1992 heightens manufacturing and capital expenditure costs at the Taiwan plant. Toyota has pledged to maintain Japanese production above three million vehicles per year to support the domestic industrial base and employment despite expanding imports.

3. Bulgaria Distribution Expansion

Inchcape’s £240 million acquisition of Silver Star will strengthen Toyota and Lexus distribution in Bulgaria’s 50,000-unit light vehicle market, building on Inchcape’s 13% passenger and 6% light commercial vehicle share. The transaction, expected to complete in Q3 2026, also adds Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and Daimler Trucks and Buses to its network.
