Toyota U.S. March Sales Down 8.5% while EV Share Exceeds 50%

Toyota Motor North America reported March U.S. sales of 211,617 vehicles, down 8.5% on volume and down 4.9% on a daily selling rate year-over-year; first-quarter sales were 569,420 units, down 0.1%. Electrified models reached 115,422 units in March, up 2.5% and representing 54.5% of total sales, while Q1 electrified sales totalled 287,276 units for 50.5% share.

1. March Sales Performance

Toyota Motor North America sold 211,617 vehicles in March 2026, marking an 8.5% volume decline and a 4.9% drop on a daily selling rate basis versus March 2025. The Toyota division delivered 182,606 units (down 6.9%), while Lexus fell 17.3% to 29,011 vehicles.

2. Quarter-to-Date Results

First-quarter sales reached 569,420 vehicles, nearly flat with a 0.1% volume decrease and a 0.1% daily selling rate decline year-over-year. Toyota division sales edged up 0.3% to 488,468 units, while Lexus dipped 2.5% to 80,952 units.

3. Electrified Vehicle Momentum

Electrified vehicle sales grew to 115,422 units in March, up 2.5%, representing 54.5% of total sales. For the quarter, electrified models accounted for 287,276 units, down 0.5% but still 50.5% of overall volume, underscoring rising electrification across both brands.

4. Record Model Performances

Toyota Corolla Cross Gas and Grand Highlander Hybrid achieved all-time best monthly results, while Lexus RZ and NX Plug-In Hybrid also set new marks. Key SUV models saw divergent trends: RAV4 volumes tumbled 47.7%, whereas Grand Highlander rose 26.8%.
