Borrowing growth outpaced credit access, with 32.5 million Canadians holding credit, up 1.1%.
Mortgage growth cools as delinquency and insolvency trends shift
The mortgage market cooled as affordability pressures persisted; new originations rose 7.8%, below prior double-digit gains.
Serious mortgage delinquency stayed low but rose to 0.29% at the consumer level; Ontario and British Columbia posted the largest increases.
Consumer insolvency rate climbed to 1.10%, driven mainly by non-mortgage holders despite a decline in 30+ days past due to 4.27%.
