The Treasury Department will also sell $39 billion in 10-year notes on Wednesday, which may sell at the highest yield levels in an auction since 2007. The U.S. government saw solid demand for its $58 billion sale of 3-year notes on Tuesday and will also sell $22 billion in 30-year bonds on Thursday.
Yields steady as oil prices stoke inflation worries
U.S. Treasury yields were steady on Wednesday, with the benchmark 10-year yield hitting its highest level since 2023 before falling back, as oil prices hit a six-week high ahead of highly anticipated inflation data that analysts say will be key to the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision next week.
Brent crude oil futures breached $100 a barrel to hit six-week highs on Wednesday as the intensifying conflict in the Middle East heightened concerns about oil flows, catching up to physical oil and fuel prices which already have passed the psychological threshold.
