SPY•ECB moves and market expectations
MIKE DOLAN, ROI Finance & Markets Columnist: The European Central Bank lifted its main policy interest rate by a quarter point on Thursday to 2.50% — its second rate rise of the year, bringing the real, or inflation-adjusted, policy rate back into positive territory.
European money markets are still priced for two more rate hikes over the next 12 months. While refusing to give further guidance on what will happen next, ECB President Christine Lagarde said little to dissuade investors that the market's pricing is correct.
