Trucks lead the way as Ford turnaround gains street cred
F•Ford raises annual profit outlook again
Ford Motor on Tuesday raised its annual profit outlook for a second time this year, citing "resilient" customers who continue to buy the company's higher-priced pickup trucks.
The automaker's shares rose 5.2% to $15.73 premarket.
Analysts see support from trucks and mix, with some caution on 2027
BofA Global Research ("buy," PO: $20) says Ford is benefiting from a favorable regulatory environment for its highly profitable trucks business; it expects recovering F-Series sales, a focus on higher-margin models and potential Ford Energy customer deals.
Morgan Stanley ("equal weight," PT: $15) expects strong performance through 2027, but is keeping a close watch on truck demand and inventory amid increasing production capacity.
RBC Capital Markets ("sector perform," PT: $15) says, "while we take a measured view on '27 numbers, given investment headwinds, if Ford can execute on its multi-year plan, this could be a unique turnaround story in autos."
TD Cowen ("hold," PT: $15) says, "while there were some puts/takes with the guide, we walked away more encouraged by Ford's cost & trim-mix execution."
