USO•Donald Trump said oil, gas and mineral exploration is getting ready to begin in Greenland but gave no details. He said experts believe the island has more easily available oil than almost any land in the world.
1. Exploration plans
Trump said on Wednesday that “massive” oil, gas and mineral exploration is getting ready to begin in Greenland. He did not share details of the plans, but said experts believe the amount of easily available oil there is greater than that of almost any land in the world.
2. Military agreement
The United States, Denmark and Greenland signed an agreement last month after Trump repeatedly threatened to take control of the island. The deal expands the US military’s role, paving the way for two new bases and Trump’s “Golden Dome” missile defence system, while reaffirming Danish sovereignty and Greenlanders’ right to self-determination.
