Trump plans to announce an EPA proposal to roll back Biden-era requirements that companies fix leaky equipment and regularly check wells for methane leaks. A White House official said the proposal would give relief to small, low-output wells, end a program that used outside groups to report large leaks and ease rules aimed at phasing out routine gas flaring at oil wells.
Trump is scheduled to hold rallies in Corpus Christi and Lubbock on Tuesday, his third Texas visit this month to support Senate candidate Ken Paxton. Paxton is in a close race with Democrat James Talarico, and the administration is presenting the proposed rollback as a way to produce more energy and lower costs.
