Trump announced plans for South Korea to invest up to $200 billion in US projects, part of a broader $350 billion package tied to a trade agreement. He said the investments would include eight large-scale nuclear plants, a natural gas pipeline and a 6-gigawatt power generation facility in Texas.
2. Seoul qualifies pipeline plan
South Korea confirmed plans to invest $120 billion to build eight nuclear reactors and $22.3 billion in a Texas gas power project intended to supply AI data centers. Seoul said the proposed $54 billion investment in the Alaska LNG pipeline would proceed only if certain commercial and legal conditions are met.
3. Alaska project remains uncertain
The proposed 807-mile pipeline would carry gas from Alaska’s North Slope to a liquefaction facility on the southern coast. The project is designed to transport about 3.9 billion cubic feet of gas per day and produce up to 20 million metric tons of LNG annually; it has faced years of uncertainty over cost, financing and commercial viability.
