President Trump stated that Apple will collaborate with Intel on domestic chip design and production, driving Intel’s stock up more than 10% and boosting Apple shares by about 1%. He criticized past administrations for ceding semiconductor production to Taiwan.
2. Intel Joins TSMC as Contract Manufacturer
The announcement clarified that Intel will serve as a contract chip manufacturer alongside TSMC, initially targeting lower-end device chips. This partnership could channel incremental wafer volume to TSMC, potentially enhancing its production utilization and revenue from lower-margin nodes.
