Uber App to Host Joby eVTOL Air Taxis in Dubai After Elevate Sale

UBERUBER

Uber will integrate all-electric Joby Aviation eVTOL air taxis into its Dubai app after selling its Elevate division to Joby. The service launch ties into the USDOT’s Advanced Air Mobility pilot program kicking off in summer 2026 across 10 states.

1. Elevate Division Sale to Joby Aviation

Uber has transferred ownership of its Elevate division to Joby Aviation, streamlining its focus on core ride-hailing and delivery services while offloading advanced air mobility operations to a specialized partner. No financial terms were disclosed for the deal, which positions Joby to expand its eVTOL footprint using Uber’s app network.

2. Integration of eVTOL Services in Dubai

Under the partnership, passengers in Dubai will be able to book all-electric air taxi flights directly through the Uber app, leveraging Joby’s eVTOL aircraft. This marks the first commercial deployment of the service, slated to begin operations by summer 2026.

3. Connection to USDOT Advanced Air Mobility Program

The Dubai launch complements Joby’s participation in the USDOT’s Advanced Air Mobility pilot program, which includes eight projects across 10 states. Uber’s collaboration ensures that its platform will support next-generation urban air mobility solutions as regulatory approvals progress.
