Uber, Autobrains and NVIDIA will open a robotaxi program in Munich using Autobrains’ Level 4 agentic AI and NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion, establishing an OEM-agnostic model to scale across vehicle platforms and urban markets pending regulatory approval. Uber shares jumped 1.7% in premarket trading on the announcement.
Uber has partnered with Autobrains and NVIDIA to combine its ride-hailing network with Autobrains’ agentic AI and NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform, targeting Level 4 autonomous operations for commercial robotaxis.
Pending regulatory approvals, Munich will serve as the first deployment city, leveraging dense urban streets, high-speed roads and Germany’s structured regulatory framework to validate scalable autonomous mobility.
The program’s OEM-agnostic approach uses standard vehicle sensors and lean compute, enabling rapid roll-out across multiple vehicle platforms without reliance on custom hardware or bespoke sensor arrays.
Investors responded positively to the announcement, driving Uber shares up 1.7% in premarket trading as the company addresses the commercial-scale hurdle in autonomous ride-hailing.
