Uber Freight to Deploy Tesla Semis with 325–500 Mile Range, 60% Charge Recovery

UBERUBER

Uber Technologies’ Freight division sealed a deal to integrate Tesla’s Semi trucks offering 325–500 miles of range and 60% charge recovery in 30 minutes. The partnership aims to deploy 82,000-lb capacity EVs across logistics operators, promising reduced operating and maintenance costs.

1. Partnership Agreement Details

Uber’s Freight division has formalized a collaboration with Tesla’s Semi program, led by Director Dan Priestley. This agreement designates Uber Freight as a launch partner for deploying Tesla Semis, aiming to drive wider electric vehicle adoption in commercial logistics.

2. Tesla Semi Specifications

The deal covers both Standard (325-mile range, 1.7 kWh/mi consumption, 82,000-lb gross combination weight) and Long Range (500-mile range, 23,000-lb curb weight) trims. Both configurations can recoup 60% of their driving range from a 30-minute fast charge.

3. Implications for Uber Logistics

By integrating high-capacity EV tractors, Uber Freight expects to lower fuel and maintenance expenses while meeting sustainability goals. The extended range and rapid charging cycle could streamline long‐haul routes and reduce downtime across its logistics network.
