The Drive Hyperion system combines a production-grade computer with an array of sensors to deliver Level 4 autonomy, allowing vehicles to operate without human intervention in defined settings while still permitting driver takeover. This reference design underpins Uber’s self-driving taxis, enabling scalable deployment and ongoing software updates.

In addition to Uber, companies like Lyft, Bolt and Grab are integrating Nvidia’s self-driving systems, heightening competition in the robotaxi market. Traditional rivals Waymo and Zoox are also expanding urban operations, underscoring the strategic importance of early deployment and technology leadership for ride-hailing firms.
