1. Uber Acquires Stake in Lucid
Uber purchased 37.8 million Lucid shares, representing an 11.5% ownership stake, strengthening its position in the Lucid robotaxi venture. Lucid’s Q1 revenue reached $282.47 million, below the $440.43 million forecast, while production guidance remains suspended, adding execution risks for Uber’s partnership.
2. $1.25 Billion Rivian Robotaxi Order
Uber committed up to 50,000 autonomous vehicles from Rivian with a $1.25 billion order, underpinning its plan to scale a self-driving ride-hailing network. Details on delivery schedule, fleet integration and service rollout have yet to be finalized.
3. WeRide Partnership and Fleet Expansion
Through its alliance with WeRide, Uber supports expanding a global robotaxi fleet that reached 1,300 vehicles across 12 countries in Q1. WeRide’s 57.6% revenue growth to 114.1 million yuan sets the stage for a targeted fleet of 2,600 vehicles by end-2026 and up to 200,000 autonomously driven units by 2030.
