Britain’s FTSE 100 was seen opening higher on Monday, with futures up 0.3%. Finance minister John Healey was expected to back firms investing in defence as part of an industrialisation drive. Andy Burnham said he had faced up to the reality of public finances to stabilise markets, while budget forecasters may raise their productivity growth estimate under a new method.
2. Companies and commodities
Heathrow Airport said the opening of its planned third runway could be delayed until 2039. Nubank and British digital bank Monzo are in early-stage talks about a potential combination that could value Monzo at £8 billion-£10 billion, reportedly. Oil prices rebounded more than 1%, gold fell more than 2% and copper reached a 10-day low.
