AAPL•The UK Competition Appeal Tribunal approved a £3bn ($4bn) collective lawsuit against Apple for iCloud users from November 2018 to June 2026. Up to 39.7 million UK consumers could claim around £77 each if the case succeeds after Apple’s bid to block parts of the claim was rejected.
1. Tribunal Permits £3bn Collective Lawsuit
The UK Competition Appeal Tribunal issued a collective proceedings order in June 2026, allowing a £3bn ($4bn) class action against Apple for iCloud users between November 2018 and June 2026 after rejecting Apple’s bid to block parts of the claim.
2. Allegations of Anti-Competitive Practices
The consumer group alleges Apple abused its dominant cloud storage position by embedding technical restrictions on file storage, integrating iCloud tightly into iOS, steering users toward its service and hindering movement to rival providers.
3. Potential Consumer Compensation and Next Steps
Up to 39.7 million UK users could seek roughly £77 each in damages; notifications to opt out must be filed by 8 October 2026, while non-UK users from the period may opt in before that deadline.
